So why does it sit at 2.4 out of 5 on Trustpilot?

We spent a long time on that question, and the answer turned out to be simpler than we expected. Those two facts are not in tension. They are the same fact, seen from opposite ends.

How We Researched This, and One Correction

We did not run a paid test account on Snifffr, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. What we did was read the platform's entire official FAQ (all 48 answers), its About page, its live listings, and its Trustpilot reviews in full, then verify pricing against multiple independent sources and calculate the real seller margins ourselves.

One correction worth making loudly. A widely circulated review currently claims Snifffr charges a 20 percent commission. It does not. Snifffr's own FAQ states plainly that it takes no percentage of direct seller-to-buyer transactions, and independent sources confirm the platform earns from membership instead.

If you have read that Snifffr takes a fifth of your money, you were misinformed, and by a competing platform.

What Snifffr Actually Is

Snifffr launched in 2018 and now bills itself as the largest marketplace of its kind. You will find used panties and knickers, worn socks and pantyhose, lingerie, men's underwear, feet pics and foot videos, private photo and video content, custom requests, and personalised experiences like sexting and GFE chat.

The company reports over 2 million members across 100+ countries. Take that with the usual pinch of salt, and note a small wrinkle we spotted while reading: the FAQ page says 1.5 million members while the homepage says 2 million.

It is a minor thing, but it tells you the marketing numbers are approximate rather than measured.

What is not in doubt is that Snifffr has been running for eight years and has attracted mainstream press coverage, which is more than most platforms in this corner of the internet can say.

The Thing Nobody Else Tells You: Snifffr Is Not Really a Marketplace

Stay with us here, because this single distinction explains everything that follows.

Most platforms you know are managed marketplaces. They hold the buyer's money, release it to you once the deal is done, and take a commission for the service, typically somewhere between 10 and 20 percent. That commission is not a tax. It is the price of somebody standing between you and a stranger with your money.

Snifffr is closer to a paid introduction service. It gives you a storefront and puts buyers in front of you, then steps aside.

But scroll a little further down that same FAQ and you find the other half of the bargain:

Here is the whole platform in one sentence. Snifffr takes no commission because it is not processing your sale. You keep 100 percent of the money, and you carry 100 percent of the risk. Whether that is the best deal in the business or a trap depends entirely on how carefully you sell.

How It Works, and What You Notice First

Signing up takes about a minute, and no ID is required to register. You pick a handle, set up a profile, and you are in. That is a far lower barrier than platforms demanding government ID up front, which is excellent for your privacy and rather less excellent for keeping bad actors out.

Then you hit the thing every new seller hits. You list your items, a buyer messages you, and you cannot reply. Messaging is behind the paywall.

Verification is optional. Complete an ID check and you get a verified badge, and Snifffr openly says verified sellers earn more trust and tend to sell more. Skip it and you can still trade, which is exactly why buyers on this platform have to be careful about who they are dealing with.

What things actually sell for

Snifffr's own guidance puts used panties at $20 to $50 a pair, with customs adding $10 to $30 and longer wear times commanding a premium. The live listings back that up.

The platform says most new sellers make a first sale within one to two weeks. That is a company claim, but it is a refreshingly modest one, and it lines up with what sellers report publicly.

What Snifffr Really Costs You

Two numbers matter. Only one of them appears on the marketing pages.

The membership

Joining, browsing, and listing are free. Messaging is not, and Snifffr's own FAQ admits that "messaging is where most sales actually happen." Independent sources consistently put premium at around $9 a month, with offers reported as low as $5.95.

So "free to sell" needs an asterisk. You can list for nothing, but you cannot answer a single buyer without paying. In practice premium is not optional for anyone who intends to earn. Budget for it from day one rather than discovering it when your first buyer messages.

The cost of the goods, which no commission figure captures

This is where a zero-commission headline quietly misleads, and it is nobody's fault. It is just what happens when you sell physical things.

Sell a photo set and your cost of goods is nothing. Sell a worn pair of socks and you had to buy the socks, post them, and package them discreetly. That money leaves your pocket whether or not the platform takes a cut.

Now the comparison that changes how you should think about this. A $30 sock sale on Snifffr, at zero commission, leaves you with about $11. A $30 digital sale on a platform charging 15 percent leaves you with about $25.50, because there is nothing to buy, wrap, or post.

Zero commission does not mean better margins. It means the platform is not the thing eating your margin. Shipping is. Anyone comparing "0 percent" against "15 percent" without counting the socks has done the maths wrong.

Is $9 a month worth it?

Easily, and this is a genuine mark in Snifffr's favour. One sock sale nets you around $11, which covers the month outright. Two sales comfortably cover premium plus the PO box we are about to insist you get.

The membership is not what is wrong with Snifffr's economics. Shipping is, and that is unavoidable in this category.

Is Snifffr Safe, and How Do You Sell Feet Pics Without Getting Scammed?

Snifffr is a legitimate, long-running company. It is not a scam. But "the platform is legitimate" and "your transaction is protected" are two completely different statements, and confusing them is exactly how sellers get burned.

Read that carefully, because the detail matters enormously. The escrow-style protection is real, but it only applies if you transact through Snifffr's token system. The FAQ separately notes that sellers commonly take payment via "digital payment apps, gift cards, and platform tokens," and that buyer and seller agree the method privately. Accept a cash app transfer or a gift card and you have walked straight out of the protected zone. It is not hidden. It is written down. Almost nobody reads it before their first sale.

The single most important rule on this platform: use the token or Deals system whenever you can. It is the only mechanism that holds the money until both sides confirm. Every "I paid and it never arrived" complaint we found traces back to a transaction that happened outside it.

The risks that are genuinely real

• Your address. You are posting a physical parcel. A return address is your home address unless you do something about it. This is the number one danger in the entire category.

• Payment fraud, going both ways. Sellers get buyers who want the item shipped before paying. Buyers get sellers who take the money and delete the account. Trustpilot has examples of both.

• Time-wasters. Sellers report floods of messages from people who want free chat, free photos, or a "sugar daddy" arrangement and never spend a penny.

• Chargebacks. Any reversible payment method leaves you exposed after the parcel has gone.

• Your own photos. Tattoos, jewellery, a recognisable window, embedded location data. All of it identifies you.

The rules we would give a friend before they list anything

1. Never ship from home. Get a PO box or a mail-receiving service. Budget $50 to $150 a year and treat it as non-negotiable.

2. Get paid before you ship. Every time. No exceptions, no sob stories, no "I'll send it once it arrives."

3. Use tokens or Deals so the money is held until both sides confirm.

4. Prefer payment a buyer cannot claw back after the parcel has already landed.

5. Strip the metadata from your photos and check the background of every single shot.

6. Do not show your face unless you have decided, permanently and soberly, that you are fine with that forever.

7. Use a dedicated email and handle with nothing linking it to your real name.

8. Expect time-wasters and never let one talk you off the platform.

9. Report underage or abusive users immediately. Sellers have publicly reported encountering both.

Is Snifffr Legit? What Buyers and Sellers Actually Say

Snifffr holds 2.4 out of 5 on Trustpilot from 31 reviews, rated "Poor." That is the weakest score of any marketplace we have covered, and we are not going to dress it up. But three pieces of context are owed here, because a number without context misleads.

The sample is tiny. Thirty-one reviews across eight years, for a platform claiming millions of members, works out at roughly four a year. Trustpilot itself flags that the company has not recently invited reviews, which means the sample skews hard toward people angry enough to seek it out. That limitation genuinely cuts in Snifffr's favour, and honest reviewers should say so.

The complaints are not random. They cluster around precisely what you would predict from a platform that does not hold the money: orders paid for that never arrived, sellers vanishing after payment, disputes with no resolution. There are also reports of site glitches, cancellation friction, spam, harassment, and one seller who says she was messaged by apparent minors, which the platform should be treating as urgent.

And the most useful review on the whole page is a positive one. A buyer of six months, giving four stars, described paying for orders that never arrived and sellers deleting their accounts, then said he had also had many more excellent experiences, and concluded that this is not Amazon and not a big retailer, but individuals trading on the fringe, where both sides take on risk.

That buyer has accidentally written the truest summary of Snifffr that exists. It works, and occasionally it will burn you, and the reason for both is identical: it is a place where two strangers arrange a private deal with limited institutional protection. Go in knowing that and you will not be blindsided.

Snifffr vs the Alternatives

The honest framing is that you are choosing between margin and protection. 

Snifffr hands you the best margin in the business and asks you to manage your own risk. Managed marketplaces take a slice and absorb some of that risk on your behalf.

Neither is objectively better.

An experienced seller with a PO box, firm payment rules, and a working scam radar will earn more on Snifffr. A beginner without those habits will usually lose less somewhere that holds the cash.

Which One Should You Actually Pick?

If you want a single clean answer instead of a table, here it is, split by what you sell.

• Want the platform to guarantee you get paid? A managed marketplace is the right default, particularly if you are new. Paying 10 to 15 percent to remove the "will this stranger actually send the money" problem is usually a trade worth making until you have the experience to protect yourself.

• Selling feet content specifically? A purpose-built feet marketplace will serve you better than a general worn-goods board where your listings compete with everything else on the site.

• Selling physical worn items, with real safety discipline already in place? Stay on Snifffr. Nothing else in this category pays you more per sale.

Who Should Use Snifffr, and Who Should Not

Use Snifffr if you:

• Want to keep every dollar and are willing to manage your own risk.

• Already sell safely: PO box, payment first, no identifying photos.

• Sell physical worn items and want the biggest audience specifically for them.

Look elsewhere if you:

• Need the platform to guarantee you get paid.
