For this review we did two things. We created an account and generated a first story end to end, and we read RedQuill's live pricing, Terms, and Privacy Policy.

The walkthrough and screenshots below are our own.

We still keep the deeper quality claims cautious, because one test story is a first impression, not a long-term stress test, and we do not publish a star rating.

What Is RedQuill AI?

We ran the full flow ourselves. Here is what it actually looks like.

What Are RedQuill Quills?

Quills are RedQuill's in-app credits. Almost every AI action spends them, and your plan sets how many you get.

Here is the plain-English version:

• You receive a batch of Quills every day, based on your plan.

• You also get a one-time bonus of Quills when you first subscribe.

• Daily Quills reset each day and do not roll over. The Terms are explicit that daily Quills do not carry into the next subscription period.

The useful math most reviews miss: a chapter costs roughly 5 Quills.

Basic's 80 daily Quills map to 16 chapters, Pro's 150 map to 30, and Premium's 300 map to 60.

Roleplay messages, image generations, paragraph edits, and audio each draw from the same daily limits too.

That is why the credit system matters.

If you write in long bursts, a day's Quills can run out mid-scene, and third-party reviewers and users regularly flag that as the platform's main friction point.

The free allowance is small. The current pricing page we fetched lists only the paid plans, while multiple third-party reviews consistently cite roughly 15 free Quills per day, which is about three chapters.

Treat 15 as a reported figure to confirm in your own account rather than an official published number.

Refunds are tight. The Terms allow a refund within 24 hours of payment, but only if you have not used any credits.

Once Quills are spent, that window closes.

Filing a chargeback immediately cancels the subscription and revokes remaining credits, so contact the Care Team first if something goes wrong.

How Good Is RedQuill's AI?

We generated one story end to end, so this is a first impression rather than a long-term verdict.

Setup was fast. The guided questions turned a one-line idea into a titled story with a synopsis and a spice rating in under a minute, and the first chapter streamed into the reader with a Stop button while it wrote.

The chapter itself read cleanly.

It opened with scene-setting and named characters, kept a consistent point of view, and built tension before anything explicit, which matches how the onboarding describes the "slow burn to scorching" control.

One honest content note from the test: the guided flow happily produced a taboo step-family scenario with adult characters.

That shows RedQuill will generate strong taboo themes on request, while its guidelines still ban minors and the other categories listed below.

If taboo fiction is not what you want, steer the prompts and the heat slider accordingly.

Beyond our test, the recurring third-party criticisms are worth knowing: the Quill limits can interrupt a scene, and some users report bugs such as slow loading and random logouts.

Is RedQuill Private?

This is where the marketing and the legal documents pull apart, so it is worth separating them.

For reference, the Terms of Service are dated December 2024 and the Privacy Policy was last updated 11 April 2024, so the privacy document is the older of the two.

Read both before you upload anything sensitive.

The marketing claim. The pricing-page FAQ says content is "private by default," stored securely with "industry-standard encryption," and that RedQuill will "never share your personal data or stories with third parties without your explicit consent."

What the Privacy Policy actually says. RedQuill collects your username, the text and image prompts you enter, public chats, IP address, usage data, cookies, email, and billing details.

Payment card data is handled by a third-party processor, and RedQuill says it stores only confirmation of payment, not the card.

The policy also lists data "collected through the process of training RedQuill machine learning algorithms," and it allows sharing with service providers, in a business sale or merger, with law enforcement, and, in the CCPA sense of the word, "sharing" online identifiers such as cookies and IP with advertising partners (with an opt-out).

The policy is honest that no method of storage is "100% secure," and it does not promise absolute security.

The practical takeaway: "private by default" means your stories are not shown to other users unless you publish them.

It does not mean they are invisible to RedQuill, its processors, or the systems that improve the product.

Does RedQuill Train AI on Your Prompts?

This needs careful wording, because the policy is not fully explicit.

RedQuill's Privacy Policy says the policy covers data collected "through the process of training RedQuill machine learning algorithms," and it separately lists your text and image prompts among the data the service may collect.

What the policy does not clearly state is whether every private prompt or story is automatically fed into model training.

So we will not claim that it is, and we will not claim that it is not.

The honest takeaway: treat prompts as data the company can access and may use to improve its systems, keep genuinely sensitive personal details out of them, and watch for a clearer, plain-English training statement in future policy updates.

Who Owns Your RedQuill Stories?

This is the section most RedQuill reviews skip, and it is the most important one.

Based on RedQuill's current Terms of Service, here is the practical summary. This is not legal advice.

• You keep your copyright. You retain ownership of the stories and prompts you create.

• You grant RedQuill a broad license. By posting content, you give RedQuill a perpetual, worldwide, irrevocable, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, store, display, reproduce, modify, and create derivative works from your content and your prompts. This license survives even if you delete your account.

• Published stories can be remixed by anyone. The Terms state that by default your published stories are viewable and remixable, and that you grant every other user a perpetual, irrevocable license to reuse and make derivative works from them.

• Private stays private to other users. If you mark a story private, RedQuill uses "commercially reasonable measures" to keep it confidential from other users, while still keeping its own access rights under the Terms and Privacy Policy.
